Rebuilding Together Baltimore and Lead Safe Baltimore County are proud to be working together to further help Baltimore County residents remove lead paint hazards from their homes through the implementation of a grant program that is free to all eligible applicants. With the newly proposed Maryland legislation that requires testing for elevated blood lead levels for all children under the age of 2, we expect to see an increased demand for lead hazard reduction services to ensure that everyone has a safe and healthy home.
For eligible applicants, this program offers free lead testing in the form of a risk assessment which will identify the areas where lead-painted surfaces exist within the home. Based on the risk assessment, up to $15,000 worth of lead hazard reduction services can be rendered. These services include, but are not limited to, window and door replacement, as well as painting of the interior and exterior of the house. During this time the occupants will be relocated, at no expense to them.
The grant is open to homeowners and tenants who meet the following criteria. Landlords with vacant rental properties who meet the criteria can also apply.
- Eligible Income
- Baltimore County resident
- Property built prior to 1978
- Child under the age of 6 living at (or frequently visiting) the property -OR- a pregnant woman living at the property
